Young men’s dance is a type of male folk dance, of great virtuosity, practiced in community life on the occasion of holidays and weddings, but also in staged performances. The dancers’ ages range from 5 to 70.
Each community has its own variations, which display virtuosity and harmonious combinations of movement and rhythm. The young men’s danceis a good way of social interaction and gives young men an opportunity to strengthen their social status in traditional communities, especially among girls and their families, in anticipation of marriage.
